Best of the best conference 2019

Avtar & Working Mother conducted the third successive edition of BOB – Best Practices of the 100 Best Conference on the 8th of November, at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. BOB 2019 saw the active participation of 350+ delegates from over 100 organisations. 29 illustrious speakers graced the one-day conference that was enabled and supported by 20 corporate sponsors. Through the years, it has evolved to become the largest and the most awaited D&I Conclave in the country.

Conference Sessions

It was a day filled with learnings that flowed from the thoughts shared by the country’s best leaders in D&I, in strategy and in business. The floor was opened by the very inspiring and thought provoking, key note by Ms. Erika Brown, Global D&I Lead, Goldman Sachs. The leadership panel saw three leaders helming organisations with very different challenges, discuss and deliberate how innovation helped them identify & set right blind spots on inclusion.

The BOB Exclusive sessions saw cutting edge best practices in D&I that were presented through organizational case studies. The break-away sessions saw some of the most pressing aspects of inclusion taking centre stage – from identity to belongingness to the interlinkage between climate change and inclusion. Last but not the least, BOB’s closing plenary panel brought to fore how inclusion is critical to Business Continuity Management. In a world where disruption & VUCA is the order of the day, the thoughts from these industry stalwarts had several pointers on what can be done to sustain inclusion intent during disruptive times.

Awards

Keeping with the tradition, BOB 2019 honoured the Working Mother & Avtar Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India who are the role model organisations and icons of gender inclusion. The 2019 Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India, listed alphabetically are: ALPHABETICALLY are - Accenture Solutions Private Ltd., Barclays in India, Credit Suisse, Deloitte in India, EY, IBM INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, KPMG, PepsiCo India Holdings Limited, Shell India Markets Pvt Ltd and Tech Mahindra. Expanding the canvas of inclusion to identify, share and celebrate the Most Inclusive companies that work on diversity strands of People with disabilities (PwDs, LGBTQ and generations) – BOB 2019 recognised for the very first time the Champions of Inclusion. The Champions of Inclusion, listed alphabetically are: Accenture Solutions Private Ltd., ANZ Support Services India Pvt. Ltd., Encore Capital Group, EY, IBM India Private Limited, Infosys Limited and Wipro Limited. Reinforcing the importance of allyship in our inclusion journey, BOB 2019 also honoured the winners of the Male Ally Legacy Awards who are inspirational male leaders who walked the extra mile, to make workplaces more inclusive of women. This year’s winner was Mr. Mohan Sekhar, Senior Managing Director, Lead - Accenture Advanced Technology Centers in India (ATCI). The two Choice of Jury'awardees were Mr. Vikas Gupta, Director, Credit Suisse and Mr. Anshul Jain, CEO and Managing Director, Cushman & Wakefield India Pvt. Ltd.

Inclusion does not happen in isolation. The bigger your circle of intent gets, the more poised you are to embrace inclusive growth. The Working Mother & Avtar PUTHRI Award for Excellence in CSR recognized such efforts on social inclusion. It was an honour to have the Honorable Minister, Thiru K Pandiarajan gracing this awards segment and sharing his take on the larger vision. This year the award went to CRISIL Ltd. The two Choice of Jury Awardees were Infosys Limited and Standard Chartered Global Business Services.

Leveraging the power of diversity and the intent on inclusion in these stellar organizations from Corporate India, Avtar & Working Mother will strive towards hosting more impactful editions of BOB, in the years to come.
