Problems Plaguing the Growth of Womens Empowerment in India – Organisational Context
Women constitute nearly half the country’s population but in the Indian socio-cultural milieu, a large majority of them are not formally employed and hence are not financially independent. The ongoing pandemic – COVID-19 has further worsened the situation with women reported being 11 times more likely to lose jobs as against men.
With the advent of information technology, enhancement of educational infrastructure, and universal acceptance of work from home, more qualified women are increasingly interested in exploring career avenues. Against this backdrop, this research conducted by Avtar in association with IACC (Indo American Chamber of Commerce) delves into the problems plaguing women’s empowerment in the current situation, even as the economy and the country inches towards recovery from Covid induced disruptions.
